The topic of our March workshop was magnetism! Students at Deerwood Elementary used a combination of paperclips and magnets to understand how magnets interact with magnetic objects and test how magnet strength, distance, and interfering materials affected that interaction. The students did a great job of using the engineering design process to come up with a plan to answer these questions with the materials they had! This workshop was done in collaboration with another club at Georgia Tech, Teddy Bear Hospital; they were able to explain how an MRI worked and give the students an example of magnetism at work in real life.
